School Development Planning (SDP) element #15

Tom wanted all new infrastructure to contribute to student learning.



SDP element #15
The infrastructure of the school as being appropriate to student learning – included new structures and maintenance of existing structures.
Aligned SE criterion
Criterion #12:  Our school’s budget spending is focussed on improving student learning.
Criterion #15:  Our school focuses on change that improves student learning.
Current school documentation and situation
Current school documentation on school infrastructure provision and maintenance is up to date inclusive of the new classroom wing that comes into operation in 2016.  It replaces the temporary demountables that catered for the build up in student numbers over the last three years.
Development objectives for 2016
·       Establish (bed down) teachers and their classes in the new classroom block to which they had been assigned during the planning in term 4 of 2015.
·       Ascertain whether the parents who had student offspring in the new block had received adequate information about the change.
·       Establish how the new block operations went.
·       Update the SE data base for the aligned SE criteria

The administrative staff and the teachers assigned to the new block.
Timeline to achieve the objective(s)
·       Commence  new block operations in 2016.
·       Review new block operations during the year.
·       Late in term 1 review the effectiveness of the parent communication to parents about the new block.
Process for achieving the objectives
·       Commence and monitor the operations of the new block.
·       The administrative staff to meet with the teachers late in term 1 and late in term 3 to review how the new block is operating.
·       Parents with student offspring in the new block to be surveyed about how they perceived the operations of the block
Outcome(s) of the assessment of the attainment of the objective(s)
·       Record the outcomes of the assessments about the new block operations.
·       The new block operated smoothly with only minor adjustments
·       Parents were satisfied about all aspects of the new block operations.
·       The SE data base shows that the infrastructure is in good order and is based an a focus on student learning.
